"The kraken"… now you're starting to get it. These fucks post shit only to suck on each others dicks. Just another vehicle for their "Click" to pat each other on the backs.
Saw the show with Conifer and Sulaco this past week and they both "Slayed!"
Keep up the work… fuck em.
Brian's been developing his own style for a while now. Check out the 1st piece he posted compared to this piece and you'll notice progress with each poster. Always a step forward.
There's a big difference between imitation and emulation.
jay pretty much only does the small o's and raises em up rather than keeping them low.
i see what people are saying, but dont really agree. kinda splittin hairs i think. text guidlines or no.
great poster.
im just concerned why she is ashing in her coffee. and those things will kill ya by the way. look at her.
Frank Lloyd Wright was the first time I noticed this "style" of handwriting, but ultimately it's all handwriting. Some folks are bound to have similar handwriting styles. But can you build a leaky house? That's the question.
Thanx guys. Its frustrating to constantly get compared to other artists cause I kinda do what I do with the time I have for the bands I like. Its why I post here so little. I mainly post to promote the bands I like.
As far as the art stuff keep comparing. At this point I really have had it. For a site that is basically all artists you'd think it woud be more open minded. Again one of the reasons I dont post here as much and show up to flatstocks. Am I shooting myself in the foot? Probably but I'm still gonna do posters and you can see me at the shows. For me that's what it's about.
well i dunno, other than the text guide lines, the text doesnt look very ryan to me. and also, i really like mercers stuff, so i can recognize his style and color choices really easily. i knew what this was from the thumbnail, and was stoked because its a nurse, and i collect nurse oriented posters.
the text isnt really ryan-esque at all, all thats tricking you is the sketch "text guide lines" that the letters rest on. the actual letter style isnt anything jays used before, and he rarely uses lower case letters. jays letters are very crisp and slim and consistant, almost made to look like theyre letter pressed sometime.
Love the drawing, but unfortunately 'ryan-esque' was the first thing i thought as well, thanks to the type.
It's a shame, because the drawing style is so fresh.
