I had a hamburger at McDonalds today. It had a hair on it.
...a long black curly, greasy hair.
I removed it and ate the hamburger.
That's how we roll in the 978.
just for the record, I'm not complaining at all.
Zach and I did a poster for the same show once. I never had a problem with it, and I don't think he did either.
I think it's a relevant issue, as it pertains to the poster world as a "scene" as well as a business. and it's an issue that won't be discussed seriously here. I'm cool with 8ball and Zach so my views aren't based on loyalty or territory. they're based on considering the future on the genre. O.K. that's enough carl gruber for me today.
zach knows a guy at Emo's that gives him the ok. and also sometimes gives erick the ok for the same show. that happens here too. we started our own online calendar so that doesn't happen.
all of my "out of town" gigs were commissioned by the band or venue. I've never asked to do a poster for an out of town venue. I think there's a big difference there. But that's just my opinion.
Usually just enough to cover costs. Maybe they've changed their terms but that's how they set it up with me and other folks during that time.
All you hafta do is ask. Some venues or promoters have a budgets.
Otherwise get as many free tickets and drinks as you can.
I was shorter then everyone in elementary school so red rover was a nightmare for me....where most kids would break through arms about chest level, I would be about throat level.
ACKKKK was heard quite a lot outta me.
i cant wait to upload MY poster for the show.
when i can i try my best to make sure only 1 poster is done for philly gigs, but sometimes more than one gets done.
and that is zachs fault.
Graham has had more than one person do posters for the same show. In my opinion, Graham always meant well. I like how people get territorial but Emo's has had so many poster artists do stuff for them that no one really has clout there. It's like doing posters through Philaarts for a Philly show.
I've had people try to snake me out of jobs because I wasn't local. Especially in TX. It's up to who does the hiring and not who does the designing.
You don't like it...work harder at getting the job first.
*Announcer Steve*-"Oh shizzy, Phoondaddy comin' out doin his trademark Helicopter Moon Walk followed by his other tradmark move the Athiest Praying Mantis, I think he's a force to be reckoned with this year Marv."
*Announcer Marv*- "I agree whole heartedly Steve."
just imagine if I liked all y'alls stupid music. I'd ssssssnake all the jobs from EVERYONE!!! muuuhahahahaha! or I'd just stay home and eat pork rinds that I usually do. Either way it's win-win for me.
four-oh-forevah bitches. but i still have 512 on my phone cause these ATL fools say there are no more 404 numbers to give out. I still do 2 or three posters a year for Emos cause they helped me get started.
i am sure all those austinites are FROM austin...as an austinite who is no longer living there I find it funny when people move to austin then want to claim it all to themselves, as if they found it and it is somehow theirs...whatever.
great poster.
Playa h8tin'.!
Fuck all that noize, make posters for the venues, cities and bands that you want to, especially if you have permission. Fuck all that this is OUR city shit.
Keep makin' posters Zach!
I think it is creepy and backhanded that you mention this on a public forum. I've done my last poster for Emo's. I also decided this when I told YOU in person that I was looking for other venues.
And if anyone else from Austin wanted to say something the entire time why not PM me? Why not be a man about it and email me? It's ridiculous that you choose this method to call me out. I did ask for these shows and I do have emails to prove that I got permission.
Thanks for playin.
Zach...this artwork is great...but you really need to branch out to different cities and venues...I think it's weird that you're making posters for shows in a town you don't live in...when the bands or venues don't ask you to do them....especially in a town full of poster artists...it's very creepy...and backhanded...
It's like me making posters for the triple rock...
