Cody PomeroySend Cody Pomeroy a message :   so, is this Betty or not?   2008-11-24 18:48:02
john seaburySend john seabury a message :   It's obviously Betty, and I don't have a problem with that. "An Homage" as the british say. Betty Boop is the sexiest cartoon character ever. And I agree with you statement about Fleischer's place in modern Art, except that I would definitely place him above Warhol.   2007-11-26 14:55:11

scrojoSend scrojo a message :   *UP FOR DEBATE: in the recent light of ' stanley mouse vs mickey mouse' i thought i might bring this poster up for debate.
the origins: i wanted something sexy that looked like it was from a 1920's cartoon and had a mouse in it. i had actually worked for a 'betty boop' merchandiser so i pieced this girl together from bits and pieces from different (non-betty) characters of the time but...everyone sees 'betty'. the comedy is that the 'mouse' is almost an exact duplicat of the originally 'micky'.....only problem...EVERYONE drew mice that way back then!

bopstSend bopst a message :   Can't forget about Crumb, Bagge, S. Clay Willson, Winston Smith, Pettibone, Clowes and a host of others who used Max Fliesher as a starting point. This poster always makes me smile.   2002-04-26 11:32:28

mr frumpy* if anyone else cares the site is:
it is definetly 'comic book' heavy but i think there is an amazing amount that artists from this site could learn about illustration, anatomy; design and thinking outside 'the box'.. on the oppisite end i know that artists from that site could learn an amazing amount from us about layout, design and thinking outside 'the box'....mabey the sites aren't identical but they are definetly fraternal evil twins. bopst* i'm still convinced that max fliesher lays inbetween dali and warhol in the greatest artists of the 20th century.

bopstSend bopst a message :   Excellent adaptation of classic 1920's animation. Betty's early cartoons got me addicted to television and the style & feel of those early masterpieces never goes out of style.   2002-04-25 10:51:02
Mr FrumpySend Mr Frumpy a message :   Hey Scrojo I went to that site you posted in a forum, with all the comic art etc... I thought you tutorial was fantastic, Ive bookmarked it and have learnt alot from the site already... its the evil twin to gigposters... get a fix from this then one from that, and my day has begun. Really nice stuff youve done. Wonder if youd post some tutorials on here for us stupid folks who scrap the barrel when it comes to knowing what to do... hahahaha. Jermaines pointer to stremline was a godsend!!   2002-04-24 23:01:20
scrojoSend scrojo a message :   *a little side-line note: i actually worked for one (of the many) 'betty' merchandisers but all my stuff got refused because, in their words, i was making her look 'sexual'....??   2002-04-24 15:14:51
scrojoSend scrojo a message :   thanks negro* 'betty never looked so sexy'.... i tried everything in my power for her NOT to be 'BETTY' but i wanted her to be vaguely-multi-racial and still keep the style of the time so....everyone sees 'betty'. as long as i got the 'feel' down and don't get sued by 'the mouse' i'm happy. i hope (eek-a-)mouse likes it.   2002-04-24 15:02:40
