I'm just an outside observer to this situation, and I didn't interpret your comment as an insult.
I'm just saying, I don't see a connection other than the b/w and centered type at the bottom.
that's it. no big deal.
I think the main problem with this type of forum is that if you say anything besides "Great!" - it's can be construed as an insult. I like a lot of Asterisks posters a lot.
When I said "That's a problem", I didn't mean that it was his problem and that he's dumb, or a bad designer or whatever, I just meant I like Azcuy's work and I think more people should know about it.
And again, I'm not saying it's a rip off, I said they seem familiar, whether in the form of homage or pure coincidence...in either case, I think it's a good thing.
Nice poster man, I don't know the bands, but maybe I should do some research of my own...
1. I think you're totally right about it being cool to try and absorb everything you can.
2. Unfortunately, it's impossible to see everyting. I've TRIED!
3. I appreciate your position on the matter, but this looks nothing like Azcuy's work. His is much more loose and organic. this is a pretty finely detialed image. the only connection I can imagine is the minimal color palette, and Azcuy's poster with the candellabra or whatever. Other than that... not a match.
I'm not talking shit on this poster or designer in anyway...I really dont care enough and I'm not going to create some internet persona to seem like a hard ass when I'm really just a guy who likes to make stuff and see other people make stuff. I do think it's important see see what's been done before tho, and can't imagine a valid argument that would make me think otherwise.
I was just saying that if like this poster, you might like his stuff as well.
"I have no idea what Azcuy is."
That's a problem. You should do a search for some of those cuban posters, I think you'd like them and it's cool to see how they have influenced a lot of contemporary stuff.
