scrojo your dead right, the image is from that period of investigation. It fit, considering the kind of scene at the time I designed it (and the fact that the majority of the audience are male). They rejected my first poster for not being 'metal enough', hence the cliche comment...
yeah, it was used in the 50's during those congressional comic book hearings. i forget the name of the book that started the whole issue...corruption of the innocent, maybe?
i'm not positive but i think this image was used as an example in the 1950s senate hearings on " comic books as the main soarce of juvenile deliquency ". i seem to remember a photo of kefauver standing in front of it ( just before he comfiscated a shitload of betty page photos ).
