i am with andy
Its been amazing to see how MMM ahs progressed. Lately he has been on a different planet alltogether
I really think that none of the bands that you do work for deserve this ART...
I dont own any MMM posters because it is not my thing to hang on the wall BUT I totally see how fucking good this stuff is and how fast MMM is growing... the sky seems the limit
if he could only shave that moustache
Well damn. You guys are making me feel so good today.
I have been planning on doing an art print every quarter next year. I'm working on a big worm king print this December too and another Coney Island print in January.
You are right Andy. Printing these myself makes a world of difference. It is also golden to have the time to do it and not be hindered by the per color expense.
Right now I am printing 350 6 color posters mostly by myself. I am super tired and wonky.
Thanks so much for the support. Seriously.
I want some of whatever you are on.
This work is trancending poster art, this is a serigraph as good as anything I've seen from the fine art community.
Next step....Lose the type, keep the skill and imagination, move up to the next level. (don't abandon rock art posters, but by all means start sticking your nose into the fine art printmaking side more - there is way more coin there)
The artist who screenprints (as opposed to those who just design and hand it to a printer) reaps the benifit of understanding intimately how the process works, and the possibilities and potential of cause and effect. MMM has found that through his hard work.
MMM is a squeegiemeister first class. Hats fucking off!
These newer posters show that MMM is extremely inteligent. Being able to figure out how to create this out of 6 seperations takes some thinking. Figuring out how to do it in the amount of time MMM has been screan printing is even more impressive.
MMM: "For the last 10 posters or so I have been keeping one of each printed color so people can see the progress."
I got a chance to check out what Michael's talking about while at Vegoose. Truely inspiring. Hand drawn/painted seps. The seps themselves are works of art.
Keep it up MMM!
For the last 10 posters or so I have been keeping one of each printed color so people can see the progress. I keep meaning to take pictures of them next to the coresponding film but haven't gotten around to it.
It is really helpful at poster shows when people ask how it is done to be able to show them something physical.
Hey thanks everyone. This was so cool to do mainly because this is my favorite band at the moment. Just for the record that is Henry Ford's first winning race car the 999. I was reading a biography of Henry Ford and the history of Ford Motors at the time so I snuck that in there. 6 colors.
