Wow...I go away for 90 or so minutes and nobody's been disemboweled? WTF? This site is slippin', yo.
All kidding aside, some interesting points were raised. Good debate.
huh. fun debate as allways. obscure vs blatent.
in this case:
blatent wins. score one for goodtimes.
sorry dan but, looking at this as an average pedestrian, i wouldn't stop to read the text.
still a damn fine piece of art tho.
this poster is for dan's band so i'm torn. richie's comments apply to so much of the work posted here though. i hardly look at the new arrivals anymore.
If you were driving a spaceship through that sky you would almost definately hit one of those stars.
I'm just saying you'd have to be a good spaceship driver is all.
You'll never get it. It's funny. You over intellectualize shit yet you're still a fucking moron.
It's perfectly obvious to me what this is. Its not about advertising. It's all about sales of the posters.
Make it pretty and make it so that it loks nice hanging in someones house. Fuck compromising and being smart enough to do both. Just make sure they sell.
Others will ignore it entirely.
It's a pretty picture. It's unremarkable as an advertisement.
As a piece of graphic design...well it's perfect for you tools to have a circle jerk with.
'Oh it's so smart. It draws you in and you just have to read it. We're so smart cause we took the time to read it and Dan is so smart for making a pretty picture and putting a couple words on there.'
Bullshit. You'll remember the picture. You won't remember the info WHICH IS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT OF MAKING A POSTER.
All "gigposter ideology" aside, I think it depends on the viewer's personality. Some will be drawn in out of curiosity enuff to read the text; others will be turned off.
im so hoping this is the same size as my minusthebear print, because theyre gonna look hella rad next to each other. they can hang out and talk about split fountain horizons and otherwise we excellent together
