you guys are all hilarious.
maybe chloe is a great person, i just dont like seripops posters, i think they are terrible atually. i felt like telling them that. sorry. from now on im only talking about puppy dogs and cotton candy, unless someone is offended by puppy dogs. if they are offended by cotton candy, too bad, thats where i draw the line.
Even though I don't like everything Seripop do, I like Chloe very much as a person and respect her and Yannick as artists.
I wish I was as free spirited as they are to make such loose and abstract art as they do. But, I am just an uptight metalhead stuck in my little box putting skulls on all of my posters. At least they have a voice and some vision.
"the only problem with being better than everyone else, is that people tend to think that your prententious."
chloe is one of the nicest, most genuine and definitely unpretentious people i have ever met.
okay, back to loving this poster, which i do.
I just read this entire thread, & the fact that I had a hard time reading the type in the posts, the white text on blue background, makes me want to eat apple caramel pie off of Bobby Dixon,...
there is an ice cream truck outside that has been sitting in one spot for the past 20 minutes. it's playing the first measure of the song "the entertainer" over and over again. the guy driving the truck is wearing a tank top and smoking a cigarette. he has a burry tattoo on one arm...
wait, i'm straying off topic. sorry.
MPH, if you want me to engage in a debate about art, you can just check all the self-righteous posts i made about 3 years ago on here back when i gave a shit.
now that i'm actually doing it, i don't care about it. isn't it interesting how that works???
if more people spent time working on their own stuff and less time trying to dissect what makes someone like chloe successful, then this would be a better world indeed.
and the funny thing is, if you really didn't care what "couch-potoato" designers think, then you wouldn't get so worked up when you get a negative comment from one. You do care. Art is not made for yourself and a few friends.
well gun sho and seripop, don't you think its extremely narrow-minded and shallow to only accept the criticism of a limited few? Maybe I'll surround myself with a limited handful of friends so I can gain full acceptance of my work as well.
seripop has gone above and beyond having to prove themselves. they are full-on historical rock poster artists.
if chloe was such a "snob" she wouldn't give a fuck about what couch-potato designers like Harrison Bergeron think of their work.
i know this only because i am a "snob" and i couldn't give a fuck what couch-potato designers like Harrison Bergeron think of my work.
mph- the comments are as valid as my opinion of the work of people they come from.
therefore comments from ron liberti or mike deforge or zeeloo or most ghost or largemamal or needles or wezzburlesque or tooth hold far more weight with me than comments from harrison bergeron or mph design.
not touchy at all.
just bored to death aboyut reading the same comments from the same people over and over.
i don't really get the point of it.
do they think we are going to change the way we work to suit THEM?
And the comment about making more posters in a week than a person makes in a month? Are you kidding me? Its assholes like you that turn people off to public sites like this. if you don't want you work critiqued, then don't post it. I bet you have all your posters hanging on your walls too...
I swear to god, Seripop might be the most arrogant artist/person I have ever witnessed. Your comments routinely blow me away. If you can't take people not liking your work, well then continue working in your little bubble. By the way, when was the last time you tried something new? Your work is like a skipping record.
"we aren't in art school and we are looking for unsolicited crits from kids who've done less posters then we do in a month."
Does anyone remember when Hess was getting "critiqued" back when?
I bet he felt the same way.
btw, I can read this poster, and I'm old.
if the bands who hired us to do this poster wanted harrison's work they would have hired him.
well they didn't. they hired us.
the reason they hired us is because they like our work.
we aren't in art school and we are looking for unsolicited crits from kids who've done less posters then we do in a month.
passing off back handed passive agressive comments as crits is bullshit.
sure you can hate our work and trash it all you want but please spare me the retort that you are somehow helping us.
frankly i don't give a flying fuck. i'm confident in the work yannick and i do and we do pretty ok for ourselves as fulltime poster artists.
so many desingers think thier viewpoint is the only one that matters or that thier solutions are the be all , end all.
well that's bogus.
there are a million bands out there in thousands of scenes.
i honestly don't give a shit if our typography is considered "good" or not by some kid in florida i will never meet.
this poster reads just fine. shit, i have posters you can't read at all. tough shit.
a while back i came to the conclusion that negetive critisizm on any poster is pointless. 1, i don't think an artist should care what another artist thinks about their work unless it solicited, and 2, if i don't like a poster, i don't comment on it. i'd rather look for something i like in a poster, and reference that aspect of it. people are entitled to bash the shit out of whatever they hate, but i question the motive of crits that are strictly negetive.
well i'm pretty happy with my ability to make a living off of doing gigposters and having losng lasting working and persoinal relationships whith my favorite bands.
that's pretty much all that matters to me.
