yeah, the poster's good...
but the band...
i dunno. it's not the kind of music i'd find myself singing along to in my car while dreaming about how awesome casey is, and how i wanna roadie for them and help dale set up all his tape recorders and then i'd run their merch booth and drive the van when they got tired and stuff, ya know? ;)
" have to say though that the secondary type just feels wrong to me"
I totally agree. this was kind of a drawing exercise for me. trying to put as many "Nein"s as i could in there as well as trying to break 3d type rules that are ingrained in my head from doing too much graffiti. but it was still a quick job and when it got down to the wire, I was holding up the rest of the poster, so i tossed the info type i was drawing by hand and threw in the font. not satisfactory but it's only 6" X 10" and there are 8 other great posters to look at on the sheet to distract you from it.
this is pretty damn original and wonderful to look at, not to mention executed with precision. i have to say though that the secondary type just feels wrong to me....like the warping of it feels nowhere near as elegant and dynamic as the 'type as image stuff'. but i am not saying the secondary type needs to be more dynamic than it is. i can only think to solve it in an expected way...which would be to set it very plain and small like a lot of that 'designy' stuff i tend to be involved with. with that in mind...i admire burlesque for trying to do something unexpected with it....i just don't think it looks as nice as the rest of the poster.
"oh my fuck" is the best thing to exclaim ever! oh, and yes, amy jo tells me that there will likely be some uncut sheets for sale at her website sometime in the middle o' the month.
