wow. You nailed this poster. Great band choices. I can see what your saying about eyehategod but i'm a fan. And mastodon is HUGE.
I don't know if I have anything you might want but I'd like to trade something if your interested.
At first glance, it looks like a matured cupid getting a tast of his own medicine and realizing how fucked "love" can be sometimes.
Great job on the hands and use of negative space.
If I were allowed to change one thing, it would be the direction of the eyes. Have him look at the viewer and engage them. That would be creepy. You are no longer a voyeur but an accomplice.
If you're up for trading...lemmme know.
I'm a happy guy, I swear!
This is really so good. The defeated look on his face...Its hard to articulate..but the fact that the guy looks so 'modern' and his weapon is so...um...its not a modern weapon. Like, youd expect him to have a gun. Its really good.
Thanks 5Rock, my friends have often said if they see a poster hanging up aroudn town and they're not sure if it's one of mine, they just have to look at teh hands to figure it out. I drew the face from a picture of a just-released prisoner of war photo taken in WW2 and the arms and hands I based on a female friend of mine holding this pose..I just had to bulk/roughen them up to make it "manly".
Half of these are printed matte black on white paper, and the others are printed white on gloss black paper.
Mastodon is one of the best heavy bands around right now. I would recomend them to anyone who likes it HEAVY! Same with Page99. I personely really like EyeHategod, but I could see your point about them I guess.
Again Nolen, good work.
ugh yeah I went to the show...keelhaul (who I misspelled on here...all that German fraktur blackletter got confusing cutting and pasting each letter) couldnt' make it coz their van broke down, mastodon was fast as hell, page 99 were fucking amazing (too bad I was stuck at the back) and eyehategod (this was my first time hearing them, I based the image concept off of their name...like the archer shot himself, and now it's time to shoot god) were boring as fuck...repetitive duh duh duh duh duh...blah blah blah type stuff...popping pills on stage...I didnt' see what the big deal was, but the turnout was huge. Their merch guy was kind of a pain in the ass, too, so while I wish I could still like this poster, it just brings back bad memories of being in the back next to that guy all night.
