"corpse paint" oh yes!Marduk sound interesting too,we have a local death metal band called medulla nocte, they're pretty cool, the only time i've seen em live is when we were going to see gong in shrewsbury but my mates g/f got sick and couldn't drive (or so she said!) and we went and checked out nocte instead, good stuff, slightly different to gong i would say!
Yeah thats the same Dark Funeral. complete with "corpse paint" hehe. The Black Metal look is kind of funny I agree but the music is pretty serious. Oh yeah, I forgot to add Marduk to my list of great Swedish bands. Now those guys are just plain brutal and they don't like Jesus very much.
Dark Funeral, are they the "ineffable warlords of darkness" or whatever it was,we had this great poster of them in this record shop where i work,i almost bought it for comedy value but it had been saved for a metal -head i know instead;never heared of em before and definitely didnt realise they were swedish, cheers. :-D
well I guess I'll have to take Roxette, ABBA, and Europe in the deal if I can have The Hives, Refused, In Flames , Entombed, Dark Funeral, Meshuggah, At the Gates, Nasum, Uncurbed, etc,etc..... a few bad apples can't spoil the whole Swedish scene :-)
this is me being a design/font nerd...what font did you use? It almost looks like Impact. I like the bluenote style too, and think this poster nicely borrows from it, but when you're doing a "period" piece, it's nice to make sure the font you use was in existence in that time period. Like I did a poster that was supposed to be late 1800's/early1900's looking, but I found out later the typeface I used from a letterpress was in fact created in teh 1950's. I know this may seem nitpicky, but it's something to consider if you're really going for an authentic look.
This is a nice poster though.
Yeah, I thought the 'blue note' vibe would go hand-n-hand with the hives image. Which if you don't know of this band...you must. Their image and sound are a nice change to a mostly mundane scene today. www.hives.nu

goin for the blue note style? It ain't a bad one to "borrow" from, classy little go. At least one element of the show is large enough to draw attention, and then the sublime nature of the art draws even more attention.
