Differing opinions is what music's all about, and if I love the Damned but think the Pistols are poseurs is just one opinion. But the fact that the main songwriter of the Pistols was fired for liking the Beatles means to me that the Pistols were far greater a marketing ploy and image band than an actual musical legacy. I'm sure even McLaren would agree. They were Sigue Sigue Sputnik 10 years early. So perhaps in a way, we have the Pistols and McLaren to thank for the Backstreet Boys, the Offspring, Lenny Kravitz, and all the other image over music artists today.
On the other end, the EXIT IN in Nashville - now THAT's pure rock n' roll.
Good job on these.
The Pistols were/are perfect rock n' roll and very deserving of their legacy. great songs with great lyrics that still hold up today. Amazing energy, offensive and threatening to just about everyone at that time. Great graphic look and it all came together at the right place and right time.
man, this whole "Kiss couldn't play or write songs" is one of the most ignorant myths going around.
it's like a mental virus is what it is.
meanwhile, the Ramones, Sex Pistols, and Rolling Stones are like these geniuses or something.
