"after 2 years of being a hobo i came to mtl 4 yearts ago and went slightly stuff crazy.. the first yuear i worked 2 straight jobs and stripped and did nudie pics on the side."
The key to record collecting is to regularly purge what you don't listen to. I've sold many more records than I own. Gotta keep a moving stock, with just the proven winners staying in the collection.
stronger than dirt yeah! i love alot of late 80's early nineties garage, metal, 70's rock, old electro, no wave, 80's noise rock like buttholes, swans, melvins just tone of stuff.
i had really great stuff when i lived in ottawa, i had worked part time at a salvation army for years just to get all the good scores.
i had been living with my boyfriend who went gay. we were roomies for awhile but i just had to split.
i left him EVERTHING. ALL my records (about 2000 ) furniture, clothes (he still wears my old dresses to this day).
after 2 years of being a hobo i came to mtl 4 yearts ago and went slightly stuff crazy.. the first yuear i worked 2 straight jobs and stripped and did nudie pics on the side. i would buy like 400$ of records a week for a few months.
i guess i needed to feel grounded or something..
yeah niel diamond rocks.
I guess I shouldn't be too surpised chloe, coz I'm into a lot of the "crazy" bands you're into, but still put on this stuff and like my Neil Diamond greatest hits and...well the list could go on and on. My vinyl collection is pretty sad honestly... usually too broke or just cna't find the good stuff I want. I guess I'd just never heard you comment on much outside of the world of "bands who are spastic".
When I would put on Belle & Sebastian or Rainer Maria or the like at my old job in the mailroom at school, one of my coworkers, this tough as nails cocky workign class painting major from new england would always say "Uh-oh, kids! It's wimpy-time!" four years later I still call this kinda music wimpy time... and still love it.
also sold my saarinen tables and chairs, "fly" sofa from Totem NY. bootiful desk, and wall unit from IKEA, neat collection of 60s lamps and clocks.
everything i have spent my young life collecting, had to be sold for the move. bleh.
Im a retard coz I built up 2 vinyl collections and sold them both over the years.
sad...but used record stores across the land are happy. Im about to sell all my mans ruin singles 10" & 12" now....must clear the cobwebs...
i sold all of my vinyl before i moved here, too expensive to ship. my collection included:
a ton of rare 60's soul 45's
emo/screamo (hahah)/hardcore/indierock stuff
lots of japanese dj lounge stuff
lots of reissues of italian movie sound track stuff
some hip hop
lots of estrus stuff (that i hadnt listened to in ages - "my love is stronger than dirt!")
old garage rock stuff
60s british stuff (a lot of original small faces 45's and lps)
and more more more.
its the thing that only eats hippies.
i like B&S too. i listen to a lot of mellow stuff as well, also like a lot of that loungie stuff, italian movie sound tracks, japanese loungecore (kahimi karri, etc.), some hiphop.
