it is. watching a band plan a breakup and then tour in support of that is sort of weird to witness. i was a die-hard wareham/galaxy 500 fan from way way way back when, so it was pretty interesting.
They are using this as under the tray artwork for the new Luna DVD "Tell Me Do You Miss Me", a documentary about their farewell tour.
Warners just sent me a couple copies.
Im so psyched, Ive never had anything this big happen with my stuff.
See, I cant help anyone with any of that.
I mentioned alot of this downthread already, but let me reiterate if it helps to make my end of things more clear:
I designed the poster for the local promoter here in Sacramento. Thats all it was for.
The band came to town and really liked it.
They said they might want to make it a t-shirt and they got my email.
Later they said they werent going to do it as a t-shirt buy may want to do it as a final souvenier poster for the last shows.
I was ecstatically happy to let them use it with new info replacing the old.
It was only after they decided to do it that I even knew they had a situation with Slater or any other plans at all.
And I still feel bad that they had Slater go to all that work for no reason, but this whole thing is pretty much out of my hands.
On the upside (for me) we printed 250 of em and they all sold out, and I still have peeps emailing me trying to get em.
This whole thread is strange. I designed the poster for the LA Show (yet to be posted). They rejected my first concept (it was a little over the top) otherwise they were super cool. Slater, what was the concept for the poster they rejected?
This went over really well this weekend.
I guess they sold out before alot of peeps could get em and Ive been getting emails all week from places as far away as Brazil wanting copies.
Ya know, Ive only been a poster designer for like 5 months now, but this is alot of fun.
yeah, FYI at least one of the members of the band is kinda psycho. that's all i'm saying and i am not surprised this happened.
none of that is related to the fac that this is a nice poster.
Shit man, I'm sorry.
You should know that I really didnt do any pimpin on this at all. I was just psyched that the band liked what I did in the first place.
Dont wanna inadvertantly step on anyone's toes, especially someone I respect.
alright so here's the story:
I was scheduled to do these final shows and I was working with the guitarist on a design. I presented a concept and it was approved and then I went ahead and finished the poster off and sent it for approval. I got a response in a week saying that they were having disagreements amongst the band and they weren't gonna be able to use it.
I didn't know there was another poster being made.
congrats on the gig man.
Luna came to the Sacramento show and liked the poster so much they asked me to retool it for their final shows in NYC.
So Im making 200 of these (and cutting all the goddamn things out in arrow shape - Accchh) and sending them out for them to sell. Im a huge Luna fan, so I urinated all over myself.
