another thing I've been really working on is editing out excess details. I've been known to get carried away with a drawing, lots of shading and little things that are a lot of fun to draw, but really don't do anything towards adding to the power of the poster. In fact those extra details are a distraction most of the time, and take away from the impact of a work. I think my best posters are my simplest designs.
