Kley's work is remarkable. He's from the early part of the 20th c. if I'm not mistaken. I also think Derek Hess took a lot from him as well --but in a completely different way than yours.
Thanks. I don't know Kley but I'll look it up. The thig about a lot of these is all the fine print that you can't see. Around the outside of this one it tells the story of my personal history with Sparklehorse and varnaline, the bands on the bill. The drawing and the text come from a blending of the tastes and methods that I like about the bands, and particularly the songwriters Mark Linkous and Anders Parker. I have no idea why I had those two bottom text blocks touching eachother but I have hated that part ever since. It's a cool poster in person. He's been stabbed in the back with a sparrow wrapped in twine.
nice reference gooch. it is like Kley's work...i see that. One of my favorite things about Guy is that he pulls off so many different styles all so well...maybe it's coz of all the junk in the bakc, but this also has a tank girl/mad max sorta feel to it.
