Venues have been getting fined for postering lately. And as some of you know, a gig poster has many roles... this particular client uses mostly the digital image to promote the show on her website, email and various message boards. The physical posters are used as an added thank you to the bands for playing the show and then the rest are sold to recoup costs.
Posters that are used for promotional means here in town are usually hung in storefront windows or interior walls. So knowing that it won't be postered over gives me the freedom to work with muted colors and aesthetic white space/negative space.
the crappy thing is, if you were to put this up on a kiosk, the first thing people would do would be to put up crappy flyers over the top 2/3rds of this poster, ruining the effect
