I don't mind that Art is making that association. It's not horribly wrong. The band sounds happy but is actually pretty depressing. So if you get that from this poster, more power to ya.
You should see this in person. It's gorgeous. This was one of those I mentioned that made me go " we need to get better" It' sreally something else up close.

hmmm ... cept for the crappy type treatment for the word "substance" on the joy division lp.
I really like when the designer says on here why they did what they did. I basically got the idea of this one, I thought, and it was nice to have it clarified.
I've seen these typeface a lot recently...what is it?
In case anyone really cares. I made this poster so I'll lay some phat, phat concept on y'all. Quasi is filled with oxymorons. They are a stripped down band (two people) but make a huge sound. They're music is happy pop but their lyrics are dark as hell. So I tried to get across this juxtaposition by creating a dark, minimalist poster made primarily of very heroic, strong deco type. It's intended to be elegant and showy and disturbing and introspective at the same time. The tear/rain drop is thrown is to organize the poster a bit and to allude to "It's Raining" and all those depressing lyrics in their music.
it's even better in real life. And now that i know the band a bit better i have something else to say. The concept is dead on. if i understand it it's a reference to the song 'raining'. and i have to say if the concept is that simple - it's a good poster.
QUASI is the greatest indie band in existence, hands down. Oh...in my opinion.
I dont know if Id say this poster really captures QUASI for me...but it is interesting. I like the tear-drop. I guess it is a bit 'QUASI'. after all.
