"I'd just bet that for 50% of the posters on here, there was SOMEONE that was asked to make something similar to this, that its posters like this one that are actually out there getting rained on and then when they're submitted here people go all red headed step child on 'em."

Jeeze, looks like I caused a ruckus here. This one's an offset flyer, there was a big pale-to-green screened version with glow-in-the-dark inks that the band really liked... We're talking 1997 here, back when 'nemotron' was in diapers.
'Tooth' was right on the ball with what he said... I used to have friendly battles over font size with the Fox about once a week. They were paying for all this stuff :-?
The "can you read it from 20 feet rule" applies...
As for aesthetics, I still kinda like this one. It was a great show and I got it on tape.
"cause a poster can't be funtional AND aestectically pleasing right?"
thats not what I'm saying,
I'd just bet that for 50% of the posters on here, there was SOMEONE that was asked to make something similar to this, that its posters like this one that are actually out there getting rained on and then when they're submitted here people go all red headed step child on 'em.
I agree with the idea of 'working posters', even though that sounds a bit rude. 90% of this poster's job is to get people to see that Spiritualized is playing on Aug. 26th. It does that job.
I just think sometimes theres a denial on this site about actual working show posters. Posters that actually get PUT UP, not "collected".
Sometimes promotors don't want "your artistic vision", they want something you can read from the window of a passing car.
Yeah, I criticized a GBV poster and Jeff told us he is posting alot of his older stuff from back in mid-nineties to show where he started> He does have decent work, I wish I had that many postrs in my portfolio. Seems like a cool dude.
