Complaint DepartmentSend Complaint Department a message :   The letter-spacing on "Pay" is okay because the original owner of the wood font had mortised it. I have not had the heart to put the type on the saw yet... But for the sake of typography it may come to that. In hind sight it would have been smart to quad out the line a bit more & increase letter spacing to avoid the issue all together.
Dude, what program do you have on your computer that cuts wood type? Hook me up!

J W BuchananSend J W Buchanan a message :   I was gonna say that I've always seen the T's A's and Y's with the corners cut off for tight kerning.
What's funny is that the kerning between A and Y in "pay" is really nice. :?:

Dirk FowlerSend Dirk Fowler a message :   I'd call it letterspacing. The only way to tighten it would be to carve out the excess wood on the bottom left side of the T. Some folks don't want to cut up their type. Bad kernning is part of the appeal to letterpress IMO.   2004-11-23 08:27:14
standardSend standard a message :   I blame the "A". Let's FIGHT!   2004-11-23 08:25:26
steve wSend steve w a message :   It's just the "T". Is it called kerning or tracking (?) when you're using wooden type?   2004-11-23 08:23:31
standardSend standard a message :   The word "what" looks all spaced out funny. what is that? Kerning? Tracking? I'm unschooled and ignorant, but I know it don't look right damnit.   2004-11-23 08:20:28
