yes, your perspective is awesome. i think the smoke is killer but i agree that the type on the rest of it doesn't work...it's too clean! and the background needs something. i can understand that you wanted him in the middle of nowhere but nowhere doesn't mean nothing.
Ever since I joined this site I've been looking forward to criticism. So thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it.
My initial intention was to have a splintered wood grain in the background. But the more I played with the background - the more I realized that I liked it simple with no sand or wood texture. I didn't want it too busy. I think the background works well since it fades into nothing like his shadow and the smoke. I wanted the cowboy to be wandering in the middle of nowhere with a gas can. Maybe it's my use of gradients that seems off? As for the gun, I suppose a hand drawn text might have been a nicer touch but I wanted a classic Colt 45 look and the font seemed nice and crisp. I find lettering to be the hardest part of the gig poster. When I look at my older posters I can see where they have problems and I imagine I'll see the problems in this one after a few weeks.
