oh yeah, and the band told me, absolutely no pictures of "trains" in the poster, they hate that...
so i took some pics of trains and stretched them out into clouds, when you look at the poster from the side, its trains.
Hmm..
that is interesting, but perhaps limited.
i guess we were into a similar vibe. i suppose a chick in front of a hotrod for the millionth time is original if its done in a new context? (hey, i've done that one too) but my concept here was a study on melancholy. Their hit song was "drops of jupiter" so I interpreted that as a mermaid who was tired of swimming in the sea, so she would rather swim amongst the stars, but she is stranded on her own little world... and she even has a little S.O.S. bottle floating in the water. this is all hand drawn, no pasteup. I originally took a photo of my girlfriend for the image, but then i came across an old antique illustration of a woman and loosely based my drawing off of that. this is a long explanation i know, but every poster i make starts off with a concept first.
okay. goodnight.
no problem... i love bobby masse.. but the image for his moody blues is a maxfield parrish image...
as for this emek.. i have no idea. as its not exactly from parrish.
yea phil, its a nice poster, the reason i left a comment on this one was because it reminded me of the recent thread on plaigerism, when the one guy was accused of ripping off another guys work-forgive me for not remembering the names but i just thought the similarities between this one and the masse are just as great.
let me preface, im a huge fan of bob masse and emek.
but the image for moody blues is parrish.. the emek one is a drawing (who knows if its from the same image)... lots of images of chicks looking up...
bottom line, both cool posters.. very nice!
the train poster in person is striking!
