>>so howcum everybody is confusing this with seattle?
Becasue they don't read? I don't know..
Rocko, I'm sure I've met you before.. I probably gave you free beer once..
uncle charlie:" I used to Bartend there.."
and i used to drink 40s in a parking garage down the street, then walk over there. i loved growing up there.
as far as i know, there never was a vatican in seattle. and i worked at the rocket where we knew about all the shows no matter where they were, and i've never heard of the vatican. that doesn't mean there wasn't one, but somehow i can't imagine it slipping by the entire staff of the rocket.
there must be some mistake.
jermaine:"I didnt know there was a VATICAN in Seattle. I only knew of the one down here in Houston on Washington street..."
and i grew up right around the corner-wescott and camellia. that's right westside, represent.
The Vatican show was just a few short weeks after the release of Nevermind, and there was the proverbial "buzz in the air" as they were just about to take off like a fuckin' rocket.
I only recall one Nirvana show at the vatican, and Sister Double Happiness did open. Did they play there twice? I saw them at the Axiom about a year before.
Jerm, I had the honor to see Nirvana during Bleach era and Nevermind. I saw them in Tijuana Mexico and also erlier that day in side Off the Record in San Diego. They let in like 25 people and they played through little practice amps and Dave had a little Gamco kit. It was like 3 weeks after the release of Nevermind so you could smell it in the air. This was going to get huge. I remember him being nervous and he kept saying he was hungover. I also remember them playing "Rape me" and others that didn't surface untill in utero. What a cool day in my life.
It was funny at the Soundgarden/PJ show (I worked Load in/out), cuz the band was really cool people and hung out and shit with all of us. But Eddie was like the Lone Wolf, head slung low, no eye contact. ya know.
The way I remember it is.... this was just a small show. Yeah, I remember it. About 200 people at the most, about a week before the Nirvana gig. They were all good folk then. By the time they came back for the Soundgarden Unicorn thing, Eddie was all ate up with it.
RIGHT ON. Cause like...I recognized the logo...that was before Frank designed the one with the Pope skull.
John, I know you were in the scene back then, too...You remember this show? Cause I dont.
