unfuckingbelievable. i agree with whoever brought up how unfun it must be to make total rip-off jobs. why would you do it? i mean, you could find more pleasant ways to scam $250 i imagine....
I thought this poster was great. Not because of the font but because of the illo and the directional lines. It was simple but worked for me. With no offense to FarmerDave, this is is simple illo that I don't know why anyone couldn't just render their own bunny. I still like the color though.
Oops.
And I just happened upon this cos someone gave me a mix CD with this bunny on it.
I prolly wouldn't have said anything, but since s/he was making such a big deal outta the money ...
Yeah, but I think he's the first person to get paid for "appropriating" MY artwork! So thanks, everyone who likes the bunny. And no thanks, extrastout-- Google Image Search and I are kinda pissed about the whole thing.

40+ comments! This guy is a genious, he has managed to get all this attention on a poster ya'll hate, makes me wonder if Kozik had did this with his bunny if yall would have the same opinion. Personaly I hate the damn poster! But admire how he has kept yalls eye on this for so long!
I would like to ad that not only does Converge have very specific imagery, Jake, the singer, is partially responsible for creating a look that many current hardcore/metal bands strive for. He creates almost all the art for his band and the bands on his label Deathwish. Really good stuff. Anyway, to ad to the crap pile, this thing is lame.
no surprise the illo is stolen
this kid made his gigposters.com debut by submitting full layouts he had stolen from gp artists and just changing the text with super wack fonts
i'm surprised people put up with him at all
but hey! he got paid for stolen artwork so it *must* be good right?
right?
um...
I'm with Mike. It's OK to push the boundaries of the band's aesthetic, but do it in small stone-chips, carve it out slowly, put little bits here and there like an evolution.
Thats pretty good. The most I have ever gotten for a posters was $150.
Wait, not true actually. Sony paid me $800 for a poster once in like, 1996. That was one of my first posters.
As I stated earlier, I did this as a JOKE between me and the promo guy at the club. They liked it and offered me money to print it and use it for the show. I'm poor. So I went with it.
NO, it doesn't fit the band whatsoever. I'm well aware since I LISTEN TO THE BAND.
"Apparently, by the look of the poster, I'm not doing this for the validation of the art community."
Good start. Now try seeking the validation of the bands you make posters for.
This is a just a pet peeve of mine. Nothing personal against you inparticular. Just bums me out when I see posters that seem inappropriate. But I ain God nor am I perfect. Do whatever you want I guess.
Do whatever you want. There are no written rules. Who cares about the band anyway. They are lucky we even bother to do posters for them. It's all about your portfolio and building up a strong personal style that you can then apply to any band.
I know this is all wrong. I'm actually a big fan of all the bands playing. Normally, this would be a fire and brimstone with bloody razorblades piece. I did it as a joke and emailed to the promotions guy I know at the club. They all loved it and gave me $250 for running 200 color copies of it, which I got for FREE. This flyer took me 30 min. start to finish. I forgot the point of that... You never know what people will like. Once you think you have figured it out, they go and change everything. Trust me, I wasn't expecting this to be used, and since it is, I posted it, despite the High On Fire incident. This is my first paid art job. Yay for me.
Converge is brutality personified. Not sure this really conveys the insanity of Converge.
I will say that I like the Illo. I also like the text and how it seems to eminate from the rabbits behind.
no, but i dont think its the bunny nessecarily, i think its just the way its drawn/handled. i drew a bunny that would be a good converge poster. but this aint it.
