andy (cody) -
i dont know if this is what you are thinking of, but i did a poster that was pretty much all text. (it was not very clever) it wasnt describing a poster or anything.
i think alex's is fucking great. very clever idea.

I agree Slater, but it would have defeated the point of it to do anything other than the most mundane text.
David Gee - the bands were initially a little worried but now totally love it.
This would not have been ruined if you did something artistic to it as long as it was still just type.
I'm thinking something like this:

Doing anything remotely 'artistic' with this would have completely ruined the point of it. I spent a long time working out which font to use and whether to justify it all.
I wanted it to be as plain as it could possibly be.
Thanks everyone for the nice words!
again I like this poster but, what if the type was more interesting like in a richard prince or ed ruscha painting? I know you went with the very straight forward plain approach and that's cool, I'm just thinking what could have made it even more interesting.
There have been posters with just text (Mr Flattum did a rather great Folk Implosion one) but I haven't seen one that describes a poster. If there is then I doff my cap to the person who came up with it!
There is a more 'trad' poster for this show as well. Both are going up but I had to make another one after the promoter wet his pants in fear when he saw this. :)
Am I the only one who can't read this? I can make out Bass Star, and Johnny(?) Marr as band names, but the rest is illegible. WTF? Even the date is a bit tough. July something. 15th, MAYBE!
I didn't look at the thumbnail this morning when I checked the site. Now that I did I think it's pretty sweet, it's like the ultimate art fag poster. I've come to the conclusion that most of the posters I like are art fag posters.
