Boyhowdy, this Jaeger can really draw. I never saw his stuff before. Nice draftsmanship and style and I don't generally go for all that spooky skull and crossbones stuff. He even has a spooky aggro photo of himself! Hardcore!
The Derek Riggs story is very interesting.. look for him on the web. He explains the situation and it sounds like it was pretty hard for him. His new stuff is almost completly digital 3D stuff. I prefer his Maiden work but sadly he wants to be as far away from it as he can get. Riggs wasa big influence for me as a kid. I still study his painting techiques..man he did so much really great work.
SOD is about to be finished for good. Lots of fighting in that camp right now. It's kind of sad actualy... and Billy Milano is indeed alive and kicking.. He has a production comapny and a recording studio.
I did not know SOD was still alive!! I was sure Billy Milano had been destroyed by an angry mob by now. (what a putz!) I also didn't know they were "borrowing" from Iron Maiden artwork. That 'splains it. I think the artist who did IM stuff was named Derek Riggs. But I may be mistaken. Anyway, I like the handmade quality of Allen's posters.
well, their newest album was called something like "bigger than the devil" and the cover was a knockoff of the iron maiden number of the beast cover........it featured sgt. drexell (?) holding the devil by puppet strings. that's probably where the association comes from for this poster.......
what was the guy's name that illustration the i.m. covers? i've always meant to look for a website with his art but i can never remember his name............
I would interpret this as a nod to the great illustration work done for Iron Maiden, but there is nothing Iron Maiden about S.O.D. (SOD were metal pioneers, but lyrically a bunch of dumb-asses)
