what's up with all the fucking crybabies???
this is a really good poster. it also fits the mc5, even though it doesn't tie in with their old graphics at all. it screams electric.
I think, as Clay has explained before, that POTW doesn't always mean, the best poster of the week, month or batch. It's supposed to be a good example of what can be done with a poster, or a good example of someone's or a group of people's style. Not necessarily supposed to represent the best of an artform.
It's got a Monty Python/Terry Gilliam thing going on there. But you're right--it does not evoke the MC5 for me, but then again, a lot of the artwork on this site seems to have a lot more to do with the designers' tastes than the bands'.
i saw the mick five in detroit last week and it was amazing, mark arm is the ghost of rob tyner, evan dando needs to lay off the drugs but when he sang it was pretty right on. i have to agree with the people who said that it doesn't scream mc5 but it's not like the guy had to recreate a gary grimshaw poster... all in all pretty cool.
afros, fists, guitars, flames, and gawdy clothes. they are supposed to look rock n' roll. incidentally, i think this poster is totally rock n' roll. thumbs up!
Looks more Monty Python than MC5, doesnt have what Id expect, maybe thats good... I honestly didnt know it was MC5 till I saw the last post. Surpises me too....
A very nice design by someone who never experienced the raw power of the original MC5. You had to have been there. We geezers know...this is nice, but it ain't the 5.
This doesn't say "KICK OUT THE JAMS MOTHERFUCKER!!!" to me at all.
I like the design. It's an engaging image. But, I don't feel it at all in this instance. I guess that's to be expected with Evan Dando doing guest vocals for them.
