by the way, bev armstrong is an illustrator of children's books. i took her drawing and changed it. she is way rad and i kinda twisted her little drawing to the max.... just to clarify....
I did a dumb thing yesterday. I was date stamping the back of some posters I printed on May 02 for a show on May 15th. I got about half way trough the edition when I realised I was stamping them with "May 20" not "May 02".
It was at that point I decided "Fuck date stamping"
If you screenprinted them after the gig that would be like bootlegging yourself.
Oh, and I think this poster is o.k. Not my favorit. I like the colors. The text seems a little small to me.
i know of a few artists who bootleg their own stuff. being on the printing end of things i see it quite often. it all depends on what your definition of a bootleg is and what you're comfortable with. screen print or not, this is great.
okay rich...i thought u meant that a run of digiprints of this poster would make them bootlegs compared to screenprints of it..sorry...but even so theres still a lot of boners abound for screenprints and its akin to dungeons and dragons and plane noise collections  go digital zach..run off 2000 and piss everyone off...be a REAL punk digitale, yea, go on...do it 8)
Say Zach was able to get a few to the club a day before the show???
Would that be close enough to legit for everyone's comfort? Or would it be perhaps, too close for comfort?
MONROE!!!
i suppose its because theres a more unique aspect to screenprints right? and u can only run off a limited amount right? well..heheh..believe it or not u can limit offsets too!! and sign them aswell!! id much sooner own a decent piece of artwork thats printed digitally than some screenprinted piece of pretentious arse
why is anything other than a screenprint a bootleg? i dont screen print, i dont sell the posters before the show so im aware of the rules...but why is how it printed so important? sure screenprinted posters have that nice weighty shiny quality to them...but its no big deal is it? i thought they were supposed to be instant litter anyway? the image is what counts and how it sticks in ur mind and creates an aura around the band and the gig... if someone turned their nose up at my work cos its not screen printed then i dont want their gay custom anyway :P
Maybe i'm just an ignorant newbie…but what would be unethical about having it screenprinted if the show still hasn't taken place? Its not like he is producing show posters post-show. And this poster rocks! Everybody can tell that.
Give him a break, all he eats is DiGiorno's.
why tho? why paste screenprints up on walls when u might aswell just use offsets...theres way too much onus paid on how something is printed..i think its kinda sad
If you are only using offsets for promo you should only sell offsets. Making a batch of screen prints just for sale would be questionable ethicly in my opinion.
ok guys here's the deal – i never expected this to go over so well, so i just printed it here at work, on our nice digital offset whatever.
should i have this sucker silkscreened for those that want one? all you vets need to give me the answer here. i'll have this sucker screened in a heartbeat if it's not against the RULES.
so, if you have opinions about this or just want a print in any fashion.... PM me or whatever.
thanks for the comments guys! most of ya'll are my idols!
