3 years ahve past since the last post on this randomized monster,... & yeah, sorry guys, Firehouse rules, but this one just hurts!
'You are not what you own',... Ian McKaye is god,...
it doesnt look like the image was just lygin around and beat up. It looks like that photoshop filter ...crap I forget the name of it coz I rarely use filters...it's teh same one that it looks like Neil Burke uses, but he pushes it till it's a lot more blown out.
I kinda see the juxtaposition thing, kinda dont. eh, just some poster.
i think maybe the reason the image doesn't work for me is just that jerry springer embodies meaningless pop culture reference, whereas fugazi is about as no-brand-name as you can get. it's not juxtaposition because there's no real reference point between 'em. at least i can't think of one. i think they just had a picture of jerry springer all beat up lying around and wanted to use it.
that said, i think this baby is fuckin' ugly. but only cos i hate the bright color thing.
well, and jerry springer.
dues paid or not, i still think this is pretty weak on all levels.
it looks slapshod and not thought out.
maybe this gig didn't pay as well as the ricky martin poster?
This is a total juxtaposition. Both in content and color. Springer/dayglo/WhiteTrashAmericanTelevision vs Fugazi/DIY/accountablilty.
Firehouse know who Fugazi is, those guys have been paid their dues around this scene for a long ass time. Looks like they stuck it to a few with this one... :-D
like i say it doesn't bother me, i think there are less relevant to the band posters out there than this one. would it be better if it wasnt in pink and green, is it just the colours that are buggin ya? to me,okay it isn't the most suitable poster for fugazi theres ever been but i don't think its as way off the mark as ur making out. whatever, who cares!
i don't see it as juxtaposition at all.
looks like they hadn't heard the band and were told it was a 'punk' band so just did something obnoxious without even thing about the vibe of the bands.
I have to offer a differing opinion in that this is entirely inappropriate for two of the greatest (and punkest) bands yet. The dayglo and mocking face is contradictory to everything that Fugazi stands for (MAYbe not the Thrones).
For me, context matters and this misses the mark.
The use of colours in this show exactly how something so simple that could be put together in 15 minutes can look so cool,or is that a hand drawn gerry springer? treated photo?whatever,i like it.
