Got it today, my first of Tara's. Holy shit, the jpeg does it no justice. It's simply amazing and seriously beautiful. The pale blue and metallic silver are schweet!
I need this one. I want to frame this, and the Built to Spill one with the kids in the layground and hang them together.
Just thinking in text form, sorry.
you know, i had it thinner and i thought it looked too thin, so i changed it. if i could i'd show the other version. i like this better. i went back and forth on it for a while. it's a strange spot to be in....being a painter trying to design things, like, technically design things to make text fit. i've never thought of myself as a designer even though i 'design' posters. normally in my feelance art, that is left up to another person (with my input of course). so i'm still learning everyday, but ultimately, i trust my own intution as to what looks good and what doesn't. and i know that not all people will agree with my judgement calls, but that's my decision as an artist, and it's what makes my art, my art
You know, I think the border is too heavy. The illustration, colors, and lettering are awesome, and not incompatible with an ornate border; I just wish it was a little thinner.
dan  thank you
i read something about the shin's saying where they got their band name from, and he said it was a family he knew or had heard of. something like that. so i took that whole disfunctional family vibe when thinking of what to do for them.
cool, i didn't get very far into the site but yes that looks rad! there's another artist who also does covers for vertigo with me.... james jean .... and he gets that effect also. though i'm not sure how he does it
i think it's jamesjean.com ...anywho his stuff rocks.
No thats cool, ive been trying to create the same effect recently there's a web site iv'e seen recently that is very much in the vien of the "ink Bleeding " style
i'll try and find it
i really like the look that vellum gives, or like how ink sinks into the paper like how aurthur rackham drawings do. so i figured out a way to mimic it.
thanks for noticing!
or shrinky dinks!
thanks so much guys!
3 color 16" x 23"
baby blue, silver and black
i'm trying to get on the sticker thing and t-shirts. one of the million things that i need to have someone else do for me. i would like to have them on clear vinyl. must have another meeting with andy
Tara-- you should make stickers to sell along with your posters at these shows. Like hello kitty/sanrio style.
I envision a clear sticker sheet with each of those balloons & the little boy on it. Soooooooo awesome!
