lettawrenSend lettawren a message :   can't even get potato pancakes and a guiness float down at the deli haus anymore. those were good adventures, even though i arrived in my kenmore residence apparently just months after the rat closed.   2006-10-05 16:25:52
irreverendSend irreverend a message :   I moved to Boston in 98, so I missed out on the Kenmore Sq. scene. I can't even imagine hanging out there now... It's all GAP, McDonalds, and Unos. Nice Crash n' Burn poster BTW dave...   2004-01-06 12:39:42
SaltyDaveSend SaltyDave a message :   RIP the Rat... Kenmore Square sucks now... all the character is gone... boo to BU...   2004-01-06 11:58:30
irreverendSend irreverend a message :   Cool. Was that the DIY compilation you are referring to? These posters may not be exciting design-wise, but they make me envision the scene back then and how cool it must have been. I may be biased because I am in a boston band, but I think the scene here these days is going strong! A definite upswing.   2004-01-05 11:51:50
art chantrySend art chantry a message :   i tripped across them in a pile of stuff left over from a project i did for rhino records about ten years ago. i'm cleaning house after the holidaze here and i spotted these cool old things and thought i'd post them. glad you appreciate them.
boston had one of the earliest and coolest and most rocking punk scenes in the early days (starting witht he original modern lovers back in the very early 70's). but it unfortunatley died out early on - probably due to the power of nyc's scene sucking all of the talent southward (sort of like psychedelia sucked all of the music talent away from seattle and the nw back in the late 60's and early 70's) it wasn't until the mid 80's that boston bands were back on the map.

irreverendSend irreverend a message :   art, where did you find all of these old Rat posters? I live in Boston, and just started getting into the whole legacy. Most of these guys are still around town and involved in the music scene.   2004-01-05 10:46:26
