If you're that much into letters on knuckles, check out Night of the Hunter, the only movie Charles Laughten directed. Mitchum plays a psycho preacher who has love and hate tatooed on his knuckles. Radio Raheem's speech in DTRT is based on a similar sermon by Mitchum in that film.
I've seen this movie. It really was awesome. I went through a really big Robert Mitchum phase a few years ago. Quite a few years ago. No one will rival his performance in Cape Fear.
Well, RIGHT ON!!!
Melissa and Kristof and me just got some of those awess Toy Machine figurines. The skate shop guy just dug them out of a box and was like, "HERE."

"i love the use of the fist device, which begs the question: does anybody skate toy machine anymore?
are they, like, completely over?"
yea, i still skate toy machines. they're very much in full effect.

definitely - and i don't necessarily think of skateboarding when i see fists with letters written on em, i think of cape fear with deniro's love/hate tattoos, which probably lots of people think of.
check this out, i went to an art opening for this canadian artist who's paintings sell for maybe $5,000 and up... he had the toy machine LOGO sprinkled all over his paintings!! i think since ed templeton is actually a working artist it was uncool.

i dunno... theres a difference between seeing something and unconsciously integrating it in your work and just plain ripping stuff off.
i don't think its a big deal, there was just a similarity between the fists and a toy machine sticker/graphic awhile back. unintended. just one of those coincedences that you smack your forehead and say 'man! can't believe i forgot about that!' which is what i did, since i had seen the sticker awhile back.
i can't skateboard though. i tried when i was younger and it was hard so i gave up.
thanks again for the kind words
cccp> that patterson site blew my mind. i had seen a few of his posters before, but those animations are jawdropping. thanks!
thanks.
funny thing about toy machine. my friend has a sticker on his computer that i just noticed a few days ago, toy machine sticker that looks like this kinda

and i felt like an idiot. i'd probably seen it before then and just forgotten about it. apologies. i rip enough things off consciously, now i'm doing it unconsciously, great. :(
this is a tour poster, so hope that's cool that theres no dates and venue and stuff.
collab with dusty of heads of state, he's the idea man
their posters are here for the (very) few that don't know about them: http://www.gigposters.com/designers.php?designer=4371
