Cool poster! All in all a great show. Long wait for them to start. Killer back up band. Was unfamiliar with them except for Dulli and Netson. Loud as hell, which is the usual for the Showbox. Lanegan seemed a bit distracted at times. Had it out with a female heckler at one point. Highlight for me was the acoustic "Mockingbirds" with just Lanegan and one of the guitarists flowing into "River Rise" with the rest of the band joining in. The encore with "special guest stars" was obviously unrehearsed, but kinda fun. The second encore with just Dulli and Lanegan bordered on embarassing, but at least they tried. I knew Dulli couldn't let the evening end without coming out of the shadows and hamming it up for sec. Did anyone reading this see the San Francisco Lanegan show at the Noe Valley Ministry in 1998? That show was one the greatest live music experiences of my life. Lanegan in a little church up on the altar bellowing under a huge cross. Freakin' heavy.
