I just the saw Close exhibit here in SF a few weeks ago...it was really amazing...and there was a video of him doing the work...crazy he can make the shapes so big...and when you back up is the most detailed image of himself...great stuff....

I saw this stuff at an exhibition a few years back. Totally forgot about till i saw the portrait, and yeah I remember these are big big paintings. And pretty good stuff.

If you've never seen them, these things are huge. What struck me was that you could really see an improvement in technique between each one. The earlier ones look very airbrushy up close, but the later ones look eerily photo realistic up close. Of course 15 feet away they all look eerily photo-realistic. He did some cool portraits using only his fingerprints as well.
