Shuggie Otis was offered the spot and turned it down (really). Wonder why so many turned it down? Would've loved to hear the negotiations.
Paint it black, you devils!
Yeah, he was a natural. The Faces were doing Stones-type stuff anyway. His guitar work in "Stay with Me" sounds just like "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'."
i remember harvey mandel (canned heat) was also a leading contender for the mick taylor slot.
it's fun and difficult to imagine the stones with any of those guys or gals) in it. ronnie wood was already a stone by the time he joined up anyway. why the bother? loyalty to rod stewart?
the stones even tried out ellen macilwaine. try to imagine the stones with ellen macilwaine playing. she was an amazing guitarist, rauchy even. but a lesbian in the stones? go figger.
The bartender lady at this gross bar one time, when this song came on, said "ALL RIGHT! George Thouroughbred!" and then started dancing around. I've never been sure of what she meant, like if she really thought that was his name or if that was her pet name for him cuz he looks like a horse or what.
seems to me that when he was nice to you and not anybody else, you misunderstood he was isolating you because of your behavior.
or is that too complicated for you?
i think most people in the public eye turn into people who just burn out and want to be left alone by assholes like us who seem to want a piece of them.
we don't like that, like they owe us something. so, we called "doucherockets" and shit like that because it covers up our hurt feelings of being rejected.
did you want to be his friend or something? to sleep with him? you should have left the poor guy alone.
this was about 1980. thorogood was hot as apistol and fresh on the scene back then. in fact this was a punk promoter who put n this show. things change.
