They are so lucky that nothing Bad happened........ i mean i thought it was crowded when SEripop and Taking Picutres were there this summer. But the Lightning bolt show was ridiculous and good . It was more packed then the venue i work.

the sold out show was actually at the bar i work at....the Empty Bottle. it was fuckin crowded!! but if its any consolation the show at the texas space was everything resembling, sounding like a show.......therefore! it was one....IMHO

Unless you absolutely KNEW Lightning Bolt was playing, you wouldn't even know this was a poster for the gig except for the opening bands or that venue/date information...So as a "GIG poster" it somewhat falls short.. well now that you mention it that is partly the point of the poster. it IS only meant to advertise the show too people in the know. let me explain lightning bot had a show in chicago, i think at the fireside bowl (???) . the show sold out in days. they had a day off and my friend offered to set them up a second show in town AT HER HOUSE. that's what this poster is for. a super popular band playing a house show . we've done several posters for house shows and when the headline band is big, we HAVE to make em semi hard to read otherwise it's pandamonium. that said 400 PEOPLE were at this show and about 100 were turned away. at several points during the night the floor started caving in so the crowd had to be re-arranged. :D

all this "seripop is hard to read" shit is so funny. at my day job, if we put type on any background besides a bold, solid color, it comes back with red ink all over it, and the words: "hard to read"... i'd love to see the proofer's reaction to a poster like this. :)

ha ha i hope he does also in the opening band doubble dagger there are 2 poster designers who kick our asses so we wanted to make something special i dunno the 2 lightning bolt posters we had to do were really hard cause we are both huge fans of the band AND brian's art that it kinda froze us up.. anyways this is 12" x 18" 3 colors screenprinted.
