John A, I'll be there May 17th, then Dallas May 18th. What a weekend it will be. RH twice in 2 days - bliss.
And MrBlonde, Rock Band is too easy, even on expert. GH is where the pros go.
Right here, buddy.
Jermaine, continued love and respect in your direction...
Ok, let me put some things together here.
Radiohead announced new tourdates and a recent album release. You're going down the line commenting on ONLY radiohead posters. Your username is a not so thinly veiled radiohead reference.
My powers of detection tell me you are a n00bian. You SUCK.
this is a great poster, no doubt about it, but it's a little weird how much attention it's drawing for being groundbreaking and classic. shouldn't this kind of stuff be showing up everywhere, especially in rock posters these days? I dunno, shit, don't listen to me.
I think this one is pretty good. I really like the linework on most of the figures ...the middle guy though...not sure. The arm kind of bugs me. I do like his band aid, of course.
Am I an asshole for saying that I don't see anything all that ground breaking with this poster? Don't get me wrong- I like the poster and I like radiohead. But it seems the dead kennedys 'bedtime for democracy' album cover already did this.
i think yes they got worse. but not progressively (was there a PUN intended there?)
they got bad at kid a and stayed there.
the bends and ok comp. were masterful - know they sound like they are goofing off and being lazy.
"can we agree that radiohead has got progressively worse since ok computer?"
No, theyve gotten better. Because they no longer care about what you people want to hear.
Not necessarily, but some of the newer stuff is a little over the top on what I want to hear from a rock band.
OK Computer was probably where their artistic endevours and their commercial appeal met head on. Even though they might not be as appealing to the mainstream, I don't really think they've suffered as an artistic endevour.
Jermaine, what i meant was that Frank tends to say things in a very black and white manner. Nothing is as simple as
"no corporations-wed all be starving in the dark. what...you gonna go out and make your own candles and grow your own food?"
It's just not. Because I don't agree with how big Corporations work doesn't mean i have to like, quit using all products that come from big Corps. Like there are many levels of disagrement. The switch is not either OFF or ON. Shit doesn't work that way automaticly. It jsut doesn't
you guys live in LA. you steal allyour waterfrom mexico. evrytime you take a shit it ends up i Mexico. I suggest you crap into little hemp paper bags and recycle it in your gardens.
Somehow I believe the "protektor" is realated to the Prescott family.
Whether or not I agree with everything alluded to herein, (which is of no impartance) this poster does seem to grasp a little bit of all the paranoia mixed with materialism mixed with the encroachment of personal privacy by the gov't mixed with all the other complaints one could have about one's current gov't, etc . . .
I like it because it does its job, it fits the band, and it has an heir of timeliness, importance and relevence. This will be a classic.
If you think this poster is about 'evil corporations', well...
heh....
Like I said...no debates from me.
'Old hat'...
You never cease to trip me out.
If that was your guess as to what this poster is about, then you're wrong, smart daddy....
I only posted what I posted about 'old money' because someone brought up the 'drooling eye'.
Other than that, you have not a clue. :o
I know you enjoy your position on this site as an instigator, but someone should nip that shit in the bud right now...your kali poster is great, i have it, nice and glossy, but its just pop culture imagery being juggled by the goddess of death, a universal, abstract figurehead. this is actual hard commentary on real time events... and saying we would starve in the dark without deliberate corporate sponsored destruction run amok is just about the most ignorant thing anyone on this site has ever...
oh wait...
you're trying to instiga....
never mind then....
I allready covered this theme in my :bad religio@ pop culture Kali poster in 1991.
old hat.
no corporations-wed all be starving in the dark. what...you gonna go out and make your own candles and grow your own food?
only thing I can see right now are the boobs and the bandaid
oh, and the fact that apparently the field of dentistry is very promising as a career in the year 2003
"im waiting for the ubiquitous debate to start within the next 10 minutes."
Nothing to debate...not from me, at least.
This poster is making no 'idealogical' statements at all.
I merely looked at the world, as it stands circa 2003, and copied it on some paper...
Charlie- 'Vegetable Soup.'
Over the years 'old money' families, like ROCKEFELLER, ROTHSCHILDE, BLOOMBERG and other bloodlines became still more powerful, dominating banking, politics, media and the intelligence communities with their immense wealth.
Banking has always been associated with secret societies, while secret intelligence has always utilized the secure & established networks of secret societies.
The 'Knights Templar' were the first to operate a 'modern' banking system, allowing Christian pilgrims during the Crusades to deposit valuables at various Templar strongholds and withdraw the same from various 'branches' in Europe and the 'Holy Land'...while the Templars collected nominal 'interest'...
The 'Great Seal' appears on the US 1 Dollar bill, along with the 'Phoenix Eagle', disguised as an Eagle, a STAR OF DAVID, a pyramid & the Eye of Isis in a triangle – all clearly Egyptian & Masonic symbols - as a visit to any Grand Lodge will quickly confirm...
I counted 24 people, tho you can't see all oth their heads, just the tops..
JR's just trying to drum up sales by posting all this new crap and then disappearing; aka: MONKEY HUSTLE. If you notice, "Jermaine" in the print is painted green too.
But, guess what? While I love this and two other recent ones, I ain't buyin nuthin' til he responds to one of my PM's.
stop lurking, and fight like a man.
this is so passive/aggressive of you.
posting a historical poster, then hiding in the shadows like a child molester.
afraid of exposing yourself?
i bet the band is scratching their radio-head as we speak.
I can almost hear the conversation with their agent...
"Maybe we should have gone with that Uncle Charlie dude again. His poster's are self explainatory."
I don't think he's screaming for help at all. The headline is pay attention. Everyone else below is shutting their eyes to all the BS. lil' Jermaine down there. (Notice the band aid) is trying to tell us about all of the evils. He's seeing all of this and wants us to realize it too. He's the messenger.
Super creepy. Something about the drooling eye that really makes my skin crawl.
Really deep shit here. I see more & interpret more as I continue to stare, unable to look away. PROFOUND. I need therapy now.
I think it's simply about how Jermaine is scared of the changes he's see's coming in his life. I felt that way about 14 years ago myself. I still do to this day.
Great poster Jermaine.
The next step to this poster would be to point out solutions, or at least alternatives.
Jermaine's pointing out problems, problems which are in fact widely accepted institutions. Jermaine isn't covering his eyes anymore and following the herd. "LOOK!"
So, I am eager to see where this goes.
That little dude in its grasp is a baby, its like the protekter starts with the youngest generation, those that are too gullible to know the Truth. Hitler had his aryan youth. Here we see the youth corrupted by the same old paradigm in a new guise. Lets call them the "Fair and Balanced Youth." You are either with US, or you are with the Terrorists....
Saw this over on BRY.com. From Jermaines news section on his website-
'9-20-03
Hey. A month since the last update. There's been tons of new posters since then. Just go to the POSTERS section and check out '2003'.
Some things are going down...heavy things...and it's changing me. Im starting to 'morph' and I feel it. The artwork will be a casualty of whats occuring in my head. I am no longer concerned with 'spit' and 'polish'. Do you get what I'm saying?
Im wrestling with my feelings on paper and canvas...and more and more, my feelings are winning. 'Jermaine', aesthetically speaking, is LOSING.
You get where I'm coming from?'
I agree. Also the choice of greens is well played here for it symbolical suggestions (the color of sickness and rot, but also the verdancy of earth. People become so wrapped up in carnal terrestrial concerns that they ignore the more fundamental issues. It's this moral lapse that's sending our culture to hell in a handbasket (a basket I admittingly am riding in). It reminds me of how McKean used green as a symbolin Arkham Asylum. I would have taken a note from McKean and thrown some balloons in there as well).
This poster is really deep.
In a historical context, this could quite possibly be one of the most important concert posters of our times.
It not only says a lot, it is also how it conveys the message within the context of our cultural symbology....
Painting a smiling face on the evils within our borders that perpetuate that which befalls us.
Protekter indeed.
Bold Jermaine. Yet subtle.
In the future college kids will be writing dissertations on this poster.
I am envious.
Andy--well to me it tops it. So much going on in it. The WTC in the background to the monster priest. Just a very well done concept. Plus it reminds me somewhat of the Teacher from The Wall.
JR's got a full team of young homosexual apprentices that create all of his artwork.
He originally got the idea from Michelangelo, but he subscribes more to the modern day boy-slave model of Warhol.
He slathers himself in cocoa-butter, and drinks wheat-grass smoothies, as he supervises his minion’s daily labor. (I hear that his overhead is killing him.)
Reeaahhhllllyyy Good - date and location info get kinda lost in the JPEG, but I'm sure if someone REALLY wanted to know about this show they'd hustle right up to it to find out the details.
Jeez, slow down. If you've ever worked in a factory, then you'd recognize Jermaine and Scrojo as the guys who keep hustling the bags of product onto the palletes while you just shake your head and think, "They're gonna wear themselves out before lunchtime.", but they never do and you just feel like a slackass checking the clock for your next smoke break. Great poster.
