I've decided I hate the white stripes. Like many bands I've grown up loving some unseen force has slapped me and convinced me they blow.
This poster is cool though.
The use of red and white reflects the thematic content of the majority of their music which generally fall into songs of innocence (represented by the virginal white) and songs of experience (represented by the knowing red of the wedding sheets). To ignore this color scheme is to disavow their artistic intent.
I had fun with this one...there are all kinds of lyric references...like the mailbox has a letter addressed to Jack at the Hotel Yorba, Detroit, a broken finger for his latest setback...etc...a collage o' stripes.
Chaotic! Nice one, man. I dig the addition of "There's No Home For You Here" at the bottom. That's a nice touch.
"Be like the squirrel, girl/Be like the squirrel..."
Damn Gregg. I like it. I thought for sure the White Stripes were going to be doing a show for the folks I work for but they needed a bigger venue so it went to the ones Grealish works for. Very dissapointing.
When I got this poster, I really planned not to use red or an elephant...I lose on both accounts. But this does have tons of imagery from lyrics to all thier songs...and it is really big...23 inch by 36 inch, 3 color silk screen...
I think it's interesting that so many designers follow the white stripes brand and color scheme for the white stripes posters. I can't think of another band where it's as usual.
