newmarkettransmitter: It's official. Your tastes are deplorable. You yourself might be a fine person, but if you don't like this illustration, something is wrong.
Congratulations guys, still wish I had one the auction for the original art
Generally when we collaborate on a piece David just does an illustration without text and Nate or I do the typography. We go back and forth a bunch of times with it until we're all happy with the way it looks. In this case I did the type, Nate made the halftones and then we all participated in the planning and execution of the printing. The first (blue) layer was hand painted on the screen with blockout fluid. We'd never done that before. It sparked many ideas for us.
The graphics on this are so pretty; the halftones are so gritty; the lettering, though...dwitt you're so inventive and tight with the handlettering, why did y'all decide to go computer text all of a sudden?
Thanks. Although I only partially agree with David. I think our collaborations are more consistently succesful. However, we've each had some really good ones come out of solo efforts, they just seem to be more hit and miss.
we were all pretty excited with how it turned out. We tried a few new things, and it all worked. So that was nice.
It also generated some new ideas.
I think the posters that all three of us work on turn out better than our 'solo' Squad work.
