"i watched sesame street up until about 12th grade. it's genius. electric company, too."
Remember a show called "Zoom"?
"...the poster collection of the Bibliotheque Nationale du Quebec (the main library in quebec keeping archive of everything that has ever been published here) you can have a glance at the whole collection (wll, almost, cuz the electronic archive stops strangely in 1996) at : http://www.bnquebec.ca/affiches/accueil.htm "
Thanks for posting the link. Loads of great work I've never seen before. Sheds some light on where Seriepop is coming from...
Reminds me of PBS t.v from the 70's. So my gut reaction to this kind of stuff is negative. I wanted to watch Scooby Doo not Seseme Street at 5 years old.
I know where kendra got this collection from. it is in fact the poster collection of the Bibliotheque Nationale du Quebec (the main library in quebec keeping archive of everything that has ever been published here) you can have a glance at the whole collection (wll, almost, cuz the electronic archive stops strangely in 1996) at : http://www.bnquebec.ca/affiches/accueil.htm
so yeah, this is a short view of how montreal was really a strong force in graphic design in the 60-70-80's, especially concerning street art.
if you go though the whole thing, you'll see a bunch of posters by vittorio fiorucci, probably the best and most prolific poster artist montreal has ever had. He was actually living a couple blocks from our old place in Old Montreal, and he is onte of my five biggest inspirations.
