Bears eat tons of fish, but it's usually just to get ready for hibernation...they need the fats in order to make it through the winter. The favorite part of a Salmon is the brains and the cheek meat. I suppose a bear will take down a deer if it's really ultra hungry though.
one time i was up in banff enjoying the sunshine, sitting by an afternoon fire and super-relaxed. coming from an old european mountain family, my mom LOVES being out in nature but doesnt get a chance to go very often so i had driven her up for a mom / daughter retreat. i've seen a lot of bears in my life, usually from a distance and all black bears, which are smaller and sort of cute. like the one in this poster. anywhooooo, i look up from the fire and i'm face to face with this fucking HUGE grizzly bear. GRIZZLY bears are BIG and brown and can eat cars. the bear had an enormous mane like a lion. it surprised me because it was totally silent. i would have thought i would hear and animal that enormous lumbering up to me, or breathing or something. nope it was totally silent. i'm sitting in front of a huge spread of tasty picnic food, yummy smelling things.. my mom had gone to get some wood or something, NOBODY is around. i'm telling you it was pure comedy as the food i was eating literally fell out of my mouth and i froze for a second, then ran to my car, then realized the keys were back on the picnic table... ran back to get them, ran back to the car at about MACH 10 speed...it was a great moment to forget how to start a car, i finally got it in gear and burned rubber on that dirt road with the doors still open, saw my mom walking down the path, yelled at her to get in... she thought i was trying to escape a mafia hit or something.
big scary animals are cool.
well, anyways, i like this poster for the simple reason that it reminded me of that afternoon. (oh yeah, without the sexy garter belt, my mom and i didnt do anything like that...)
