This is all kinds of good, man.
It's cool that you brought up Crumb...I've watched Zwigoff's documentary on him about 5 times. And ditto on the Kid Koala similarity...anyone here read his graphic novel that just came out?
after getting this assignment-and familiarizing myself with (Smog) i came up with a picture in my mind of what i wanted to use on this. (orgionally, i was going to illustrate it-thinking of Crumbs urban landscapes)... so i drove around biloxi with a digital camera until i found THE street that i was looking for.
it's nice when all of this just kind of comes together.
i'm not familiar with kid koala, but i went to their website after that comment and it's very similar. huh.
well. thanks for all the comments.
Growing up in suburbia I became very aware of the temporary nature of our world today. Buildings come and go...the ways you walk to school are destroyed and paved over...the mystery of childhood is corrupted and lost.
On the other side...I can do pre-press without the $ pf haviong to have a Stat cammera, I can get more work because of new mediums like the web, and cell phones, palm..etc.
I communicate far more often with those I love than I ever did before...and we share in more information that is globally accessible by the simple power of a link.
With everything that changes we are still left with equal ammounts of good and bad...we are just a forced to find them hidding in new places.
more of a 1993 feel to me...but whose asking..right?
Nice poster though...even better photo. I think one thing that sorta makes it is the pic is an anywhere kind of pic...its a generalized feeling.
i like this. it reminds me of 1995. i dont feel like explaining why. this feels like a simple, personal, sort of secretive card to pass to somebody to invite to this show. very moody. reminds me of blue dickies work pants.
there, i said something more comprehensive than "AWESOME". furthermore, if i had no idea who this band was, this poster would make me want to go to the show and find out.
