We just recently used the same pic of Edie on a poster and nary a word was said. Things that make you go hmmm.
Style and quality of printing aside it seems to me if the Black Keys management approved this and were willing to put themselves out there to sell it what does it matter what anyone else thinks other than those that choose to purchase it and display it.
I think it's a cool looking rock poster . Sometimes I don't get the ambulance chasers . It's not affecting them personaly . If he gets sued so be it ....and its a big IF . it's a rock poster
You seem like a nice dude. I think there is a lot of valuable critique to be heard here. And based on few printed pieces of yours i have viewed in RL I would work on your separations. Seems like a lot of detail get blown out. Doing the photos that you use no justice.
Real Talk
communicates a film poster not music.
also, this might be interesting: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/01/arts/design/richard-prince-lawsuit-focuses-on-limits-of-appropriation.html?pagewanted=all
I don't see how you can get any satisfaction from even putting this together. I mean, if you want to pull shit form the library of congress that's cool. any photo of Edie is going to have been used 1000 times. maybe fuck up the typeface a little bit. or draw the typeface. or draw from the photos. or fuck the photos up. or something.
I know that REAL advice is rarely dispensed on this site (we all know that drama and shit-talking is way more fun) but I'm giving you the serious suggestion to TRY HARDER. You obviously have a lot of interest in the gigposters scene, but typing a band name on a photo from a famous photographer doesn't cut it. Try MAKING something yourself.
I'm not concerned either way. I think I was just triggered by the "last time i checked" thing...coming from the Land of Passive Aggressivity, I know for a fact that nobody runs around figuratively checking stuff like that, at least not the last time I checked...
