"Hmm. I wouldn't say all of our posters are overly conceptual. A lot of the time we'll simply go for the "feel" of the band.
The name of mt.st.helens album is "You are a ghostly presence." That is what spurred the image of the figure comes from and using a silhouette / shadow for the legs.
The songs have a sort of disjointed, choppy feel at times. Sort of angular stuff, ya know? And well, that's where the broken pattern, broken body comes in...as well as the knives.
To tell you the truth I don't really think about these things when I work. Shit just comes out of my head and usually doesn't make sense until after the poster is finished."
you guys are a bunch of geeks.
i've noticed that sometimes you need to know a little about the band to 'get' AAs concepts. I just recently bought spoon's 2nd to last album and there's a song on it called 'fitted shirt'. a little light went 'bling', cause i've always wondered why they had a photo of a nicely folded shirt on the spoon poster. see?

I really like this poster, great composition, colours and typography, BUT whats starting to bother me about these AA posters is that I never seem to understand the concepts. I mean they look like they have to have one, and no else seems to ask so maybe i'm just out of the loop. Same goes for the meat puppets poster with the balaclava, they look totally concept driven but for the life of me I cant figure them out. I'd love to know, any help?
