I am not trying to be edgy and I didn't design this or post this for any kind of attention. I merely had a few flyers I recently found from old shows in Iowa and Minneapolis that I went to in high school and thought I would just post them for reference. Than I got a couple of comments that made me think I should clarify that I didn't design them and just wanted to share some info. I am not trolling and just tried to clarify my reason for posting this, so I guess the sense of humor only works one way. And I wasn't knocking the website, I just thought it was odd that someone would make a comment as if these are anywhere near having been recent shows or flyers. There are around 22 years old and I just thought it was interesting that Iowa had so many Wax Trax bands playing in a 2 year period, so I posted these. Naptime now...
I get that he thinks he's being edgy: DARING anyone to crit his posters, knocking the website. Really, though, this comes across as being a little puss. Yawn.
I have one of these. It's a 9 color screen print. All those slight variations in paper color...that's part of the print. Really cutting edge stuff. All hand cut rubylith. 24" x 36".
So this site should be called ART POSTERS, since apparently it is more concerned about artistic content and not the actual historical documentation of musicians, venues and the purpose of a "GIGPOSTER". Maybe the administrators should invite you all to be on a panel to approve each flyer due to artistic content rather than its actual purpose. I understand the humor of awful flyers, but I would think that it is obvious in this case. I also posted a Foetus INC. poster from this venue, perhaps you could add some humorous comments on that one too. And, are you sure it couldn't of been done using Quark, that was around in 1989,or possibly cut and paste at a Kinko's? I am bored today, so I'll play the devil's advocate for the defense of an awful flyer.
Please note, before anyone makes any snide comments, I DID NOT design this, I posted it for those in Iowa who might remember this club from the early 90's. If I recall this site is to collect and record gigs from around the world and from times gone by, and not merely an art gallery. There was a time before ADOBE and cheap computers when flyers weren't very innovative.
