This (to me) is one of the best gig posters ever. I think it captures everything a poster should. It is well designed, it fits the band, it relates information and if you have ever seen it in real life the printing is amazing. There is nothing wrong with this poster. 30 years from now it will be held up as an example of this era of posters.
"another suitable valentines day poster... RIGHT THROUGH THE HEART... heh heh"
Hour or so late, but...
Thought I might drum this one up again for KJ.
A Valentine of sorts that says THANX for your contributions.
Right thru the heart!!!
I like the idea behind this poster, but since the artist is going for an "aged" or "old" look with illustrating browned/worn paper...I would have researched old type for use on it instead of a font. Time-Life's book series on the Old West (my dad had em when I was growing up and most libraries have em too) has tons of examples of posters from the odl west and type could have been lifted from there for a more authentic feel.
If the designer didn't have time to go that far with it, at least next time dont' put an outline on the type, which would not have used on a poster as old as this one is emulating.
I love the drawing of the heart though...usually imagery like that can come across as cliche, but this is really well rendered.
