Is this even screened? Some of the other posts from this artist just look digital. Not bad style more of an old gouache posterized illustration look rather than crosshairs process print style. Same signage concept but completely different execution.
In my opinion, this is nothing like a crosshair. Dan's prints are way-techincal, and seamless. This one looks very heavy on the photoshop... The only thing they have in common is that there is a building with words on it.
Thanks for the input, I really do appreciate it. The point I was trying to make was that Crosshair is not the first one to manipulate a photo in a way that a new ad appears. Advertising companies have been doing it for decades. I have been manipulating images similar to this for at least tens years although only recently in rock poster form. I'm relatively new to posters and I did not know who Crosshair was until my last Built to Spill poster. It's posted on here as is mine and his comments about being a copycat. Yes these styles are somewhat similar but I don't know how I could copy someone I'd never seen. I'm ok with the accusations, the concept is an old one thats been around since before I was born.
You're right about the clouds, they do suck though
Crosshair has raised the bar so high that I personally wouldn't even attempt an image like this, but if you have an idea that you still think can be original, then knock yourself out. The only real risk is that instead of showcasing your own ability and originality, your art will simply look like it's mimicking another artist's style...as this one does.
Having said all that, this looks pretty great except for the clouds.
