Just saw this. Mitch pretty much laid out how this happened. I haven't been making posters long, but one thing I gathered was that you gotta get the band's permission. In this case I was under the impression that we had it. Lesson learned.
I need to look into this further, but FYI, in case anyone is wondering, the promoter hired Rich for the poster. I also talked to the venue and made them state in writing that they talked to the band and had approval to sell them. If that is actually true, the promoter lied in writing about it and as far as Rich and I knew, it was supposed to be completely legit. Oh, promoters.
that's true. unfortunately, some of the coolest stuff I've seen has been bootleg. Some of the shittiest as well. It is what it is.
That being said, I love the new Devo "branding" experiment. and this poster does not compute.
