I have been bad about communicating with everyone. I have love for yah man! :)
School robs me of time and any social freetime...when its not study its design and when its not design its try to get design and catch up on what f27 is behind on and then back to study...time is not a commodity that I have much of.
we do need a good 1am burger debate though...I am in need. :)

philaarts.comSend a message :   hey dont sweat it.. best thing about doing posters is that you can almost do anything... if people dont like your stuff, youll get even more attention..

JermaineSend Jermaine a message :   Jason used to come by my apartment...sit around and hang out....invite me out to eat and just discuss things... Now he never calls.... He just assaults me verbally, teasing me for my inabilities in mathematics...   2003-02-12 12:15:46

jasoncrossSend jasoncross a message :   I just like the fact that Jermaines post read in short on the front page as:
"Heather, dont stop posting. I cant count "
I never knew ;)

JermaineSend Jermaine a message :   Heather, dont stop posting. I cant count the number of Stones posters Ive seen using the 'lips'...Zepp posters using the 'falling angel', etc. But dont let the crit here stop you from posting your stuff. Just take it. We all have.   2003-02-12 11:58:20
JGexSend JGex a message :   I think it would be cool if people would ask questions first and get the whole story BEFORE hazing people.
Welcome to the boards, RockerGirl. You have "officially" been indoctrinated.

RockerGirl77Send RockerGirl77 a message :   people please calm down - im not on this forum claiming to be some amazing artist. i actually can't even draw. i just posted these things here in case anyone who is a fan of any band wants to come and take one. i work for a huge concert promoter and often churn out over ten ads and posters a day and i honestly don't have much time to get terribly creative. in addition to that, i am often told by the bands management that i HAVE to use "approved" artwork that they have used in the past or that is associated with them - so I have no choice. Independent artists can do really cool posters for us, but since I am an actual employee of the company which is contracted to the band - there often isn't room for cool stuff or much creativity. when i decided to post of this board i checked and there are a very large percentage of posters on here which use ad mattes (and at least i'm not posting any in which i have done that) and an even larger percentage which use appropriated artwork so i didnt think it would be that big of a deal or i wouldn't have posted.   2003-02-12 11:51:39
rockologistSend rockologist a message :   that i agree with. but she doesnt just take illos. she also uses found photos. which a lot of us do. i guess the challenge for her could be to find more original ways to utilize the image. by the way-are y'all coming to FS now, or what?   2003-02-12 09:37:30
seripopSend seripop a message :   i also feel that if this is an illo from a suppersuckers album it's not as bad but it's still lazy and not very creative. i'd rather see someone MAKE something ya know?   2003-02-12 09:33:49
rockologistSend rockologist a message :   gotcha. i misread yer comment.
chloer-will you give me a new name, too?
  2003-02-12 09:31:34
seripopSend seripop a message :   i dpon't mean original in the sense of fresh i mean all her work just has someone else's art unaltered and straight up and out of 35 posters you'd think u'd have found yr stride   2003-02-12 09:29:23
UnitusSend Unitus a message :   also, the jeff k logo i mentioned WAS on an album cover AND on the band's website (where the artist got it)...
so, why NOT use it?
also, this wouldn't really be ripping off Clowes, would it? Sub Pop probably ownes the rights to this drawing...

rockologistSend rockologist a message :   ha! chloer...i gave you a new name.   2003-02-12 09:13:58
rockologistSend rockologist a message :   chloer-you don't think that;s a little harsh? i mean, i looked at them and i'd say that a lot of 'em are about as original as a lot of others. i guess that means none of mine are, either. maybe she just hasn't struck "it " yet, y'know? but i agree that ripping clowes isn't cool.   2003-02-12 09:13:27
UnitusSend Unitus a message :   i agree. and i called someone out recently for ripping a jeff k logo... BUT...
i've been thinking about this and wondering "If you're going to do a poster for a band, is it okay to use THEIR existing artwork?" Like, Clowes drew this, but it was an early Supersuckers album it's part of the band's identity. Now, just pulling the band's album cover or logo isn't the most creative of things to do, but is it really wrong?

seripopSend seripop a message :   oh well what can u expect i was looking at this woman's other posters and not one original creation in the bunch   2003-02-12 08:55:11
Cody PomeroySend Cody Pomeroy a message :   especially if Clowes happens to see it.   2003-02-12 08:52:33
