Yep, it is a PARODY!!! People selectively frown upon or applaud posters with cultural icons on this site ....every chance they can get. It's retarded. Would it have been better with characters from Sesame Street or a filtered photo of Marilyn Monroe? Maybe I should have reworked some corporate logo or used of photo of GW Bush. I approached the poster as a "job." Listened to the band's lyrics and discussed it with the club. If I'm going to sell out from time to time, I should at least make an effort. The band dug it and I had fun doing it. Next time I'll just draw a skull.

There are 2 things I don't really like about this poster: 1. I think it's conceptually poor. It's conveying the idea of "metal" by using a character from a metal band. It's not a parody, it's not put into any new or interesting context, it's just Eddie on another band's poster. 2. I realize that Eddie is a bit of a cultural landmark in his own way, but it seems odd to use the creation of another rock/poster artist who is still producing work and trying to make a living. I would've figured someone here would frown upon this and I'm surprised it ended up being me. It's well-done and drawing Eddie is fun, but I still don't get it.

i saw an episode of MTV Cribs w/ Sum41's bassist - he still lives with his parents (he's like 18 and canadian). anyway, at one point in the episode, he showed the camera his 'most prized possession', which was indeed the Eddie's Head box set. you nailed it, cap'n. =D

I didn't know what to do for a band I had no interest in...like the Dashboard poster. The idea came from a conversation with Fisher, to do something 'metal'. The club asked me to do this one and I obliged cuz they' treat me well. Plus, I fulfilled a childhood dream of drawing Eddie. After meeting the band... I have respect for them. They were very courteous and down to earth. Unlike some bands that watched too much behind the music. Muthafuckin' job done muthafuckah. Ya know he does look like he's eating a shrub.
